Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Ranked World’s Top Program for the 12th Time
Various media reported that the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program has maintained the top spot in the FT EMBA Ranking for the 12th time. The program’s graduates achieved the highest average salary of up to US$652,326 (over HK$5 million) per annum, representing an average salary increase of 89% between their pre-EMBA earnings and current salaries.

School’s Fintech Experts Join HKMA CBDC Expert Group
Most major media reported that the Hong Kong Monetary Authority established the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Expert Group and signed MoUs with five local universities, namely HKUST, CUHK, CityU, PolyU, and HKU, whose faculty members are participants of the group. Dean Prof. TAM Kar Yan and Associate Dean Prof. Allen HUANG are among experts appointed. Dean Tam said the School has been exploring the potential of CBDC through various research and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

HKUST Releases Survey Findings on Public Attitudes Towards Virtual Assets
Most major media covered a survey undertaken by the School, which found 41% of local residents prefer not to hold virtual assets in the wake of the JPEX saga in mid-September in HK, up by 12 percentage points from a previous survey conducted between April and May. Assoc. Dean Prof. Allen HUANG said the recent financial incident has drawn more public attention on VAs and regulatory issues, and led to a more conservative investment appetite. Christy YEUNG, Head of Fintech and Green Finance Projects, believed that the regulators are seeking to provide citizens with more accurate information on virtual assets, and universities also hope to launch educational initiatives to enhance their understanding of virtual assets.

HKUST Fintechstic Advances Understanding in Green Finance and Digital Assets (Oct 31)

A team comprising three HKUST students won the competition. Ming Pao Daily reported about the startup co-founded by School alumnus Jackson YIP Ho-So and HKU’s Department of Chemistry Asst. Prof. Edmund TSE, which has developed a real-time fertilizer device that utilizes renewable energy to convert toxic substances in the soil to nutrients.
