Our Global Business (GBUS) Program provides transformative experiences for students through unique opportunities that blend leadership development, industry insights, and cultural exposure. Two recent events offered our GBUS students valuable experiences outside the classroom.
Global Leadership Forum
The GBUS Program hosted its annual flagship enrichment event, the HKUST Global Leadership Forum, in which business leaders shared insights on leadership and emerging societal themes. This event nurtured independent and critical thinking among GBUS students.

Acting Dean of HKUST Business School Prof. HUI Kai-Lung (left) officiated the event with a speech highlighting the School’s latest achievements in business research, cross-cultural partnerships, and talent development. It was followed by a keynote address by Mr. Michael YUE (middle), General Manager of Google HK, who shared on the theme: “Making AI Helpful for Everyone”, delving into Google’s various AI initiatives driving innovative advancements in society. In an engaging panel discussion, students took a glimpse into Michael’s journey and his passion for lifelong learning and youth empowerment. He emphasized that, in the AI era, curiosity and learning agility are more important than ever.

Study Trip to Explore Singapore’s Business and Innovation Landscape
In an enriching study trip to Singapore, 22 GBUS students dived into the city-state’s thriving business landscape, academic excellence, and vibrant culture. Their journey began with an interactive lecture and networking session at Singapore Management University, where students engaged in stimulating discussions on career exploration. The group also visited the National University of Singapore, to learn of its college culture.

A series of exclusive company visits further enriched students’ experience in real-world applications. At the Mastercard Asia Pacific Headquarters, students explored the future of fintech and digital payments, while a visit to the Action Community for Entrepreneurship featured a dynamic panel discussion with local start-up founders. The group also had the privilege of meeting Mr. Owin FUNG, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore. The final corporate stop at KPMG Digital Village showcased the latest digital transformation and emerging technologies.

Beyond business and academia, the trip included unforgettable cultural experiences — Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Light Show Cruise, Merlion, Night Safari, and ended with a fascinating reunion dinner with GBUS alumni in Singapore.
