The 5th gathering of the HKUST EMBA Alumni Association was successfully held in late March. Over 200 alumni and guests gathered in Guangzhou from all over the world to reminisce their fond memories of the alma mater, strengthen their friendships, and discuss the future.
This annual alumni event was divided into two sessions: the Homecoming Day held on the HKUST (Guangzhou) campus and the Annual Dinner held in a local hotel. During the Homecoming session, President of HKUST (Guangzhou) Prof. Lionel NI shared with our alumni the blueprint of the HKUST (Guangzhou), while Prof. HUI Kai-Lung, Prof. LIU Shengjun and Prof. XIONG Hui delivered several insightful talks for our alumni on topical issues covering the latest development of technology and the economy.
The HKUST EMBA alumni take a group photo with senior management of HKUST (GZ) and the HKUST Business School, with the icon of the new campus – the sundial sculpture.
To commemorate the opening of the HKUST (Guangzhou) campus, the EMBA Alumni Association donated the very first red sandalwood tree, which is marked by a ceremony officiated by Prof. Lionel NI (second from left) and Prof. TAM Kar Yan (third from left) and two representatives from the Association.
At the Annual Dinner, President of HKUST and The Morningside Professor of Life Science Prof. Nancy IP, and former President Prof. SHYY Wei sent their greeting messages to Mr. CAO Zhiwei, Chairman of the HKUST EMBA Alumni Association. Mr. Cao was on hands to deliver his welcoming speech to mark the beginning of a series of activities in the evening, including djembe drum, remarkable dancing and singing performances presented by our alumni.
The reunion concludes on a high note with everyone singing together the event’s theme song “Creating the Future Together”.
