The month-long educational event HKUST Fintechstic (Fintechstic) is back with the theme of “NFTs and the Metaverse”. Led by the Fintech Research Project of HKUST Business School, this year’s Fintechstic brought together students, industry leaders and entrepreneurs to explore the application of Web3 technology in the banking and financial industries.
Fintechstic offers various engaging educational activities including student competition, public online trivia and online workshops. Over 170 students from different local universities formed 50 teams to join the student competition. The online trivia is open to the public and featured as a satellite event of the Hong Kong FinTech Week 2022. The online workshop series was kick-started in early October, featuring Mr. Ben EL-BAZ (HashKey Group) who introduced the NFT and Metaverse landscape, the technology behind, and the way forward. Other interesting topics will be covered in the upcoming workshops, including NFT innovation and opportunities, how to launch NFT projects, blockchain technology, and the development and application of NFT for financial use.

Thanks to The Base, an HKUST student group with a focus on entrepreneurship, this fintech learning opportunity has been extended to students in different fields.
