To our MBA alumnus, Terry TSANG, HKUST is his “home” where he pursued his undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Terry could never forget the tremendous support he had received from this “home”. In return, he decided to be a strong supporter and give back to the University.

“When I step into the University, it’s like I have returned home!”

Back in 2004, upon graduating from his first degree, there was a sudden bereavement in Terry’s family. In the midst of his devastation, the University community came together to support him and his brother, who is also an alumnus of HKUST, through an emergency grant.

Later when Terry embarked on his MBA studies in 2011, another tragedy struck. His mother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. At that time, Terry and his brother had already established a mobile game developing company named Madhead, and had the resources to take care of their mother. However, this incident had urged him to set up the Student Emergency Fund, which provides assistance to HKUST students facing unforeseen financial emergencies that could affect their studies. The University later named the atrium of the Lee Shau Kee Business Building after the Tsang brothers.

At the 30th anniversary of the University, the alumni brothers Terry and Terence Tsang once again pledged to donate HK$10 million to their alma mater, of which HK$7 million will support the University’s development and HK$3 million will be dedicated to the MBA program.
