The service sector is a key contributor to Hong Kong’s vibrant economy. In addition to serving as a member of the judging panel for Sing Tao Service Awards 2021, Professor HUI Kai Lung, Senior Associate Dean of HKUST Business School and Chair Professor of the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management officiated at its presentation ceremony. This year, 37 companies from a wide range of industries, including financial, healthcare, daily necessities, were named winners at the Awards, which aims to encourage businesses to strive for excellence in delivering quality services to customers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Hui said that the pandemic has prompted companies to stay ahead through digital transformation. The school is supporting business sector to tap the power of business analytics and big data by developing platforms for gleaning business insights from vast volume of social media data, which can help unlock new business opportunities, especially those arising from the development of the Greater Bay Area.
