Digitalization in the financial services industry has driven the demand for talent skilled in both business and technology. To help address the fintech industry’s demand for interdisciplinary talent, the Fintech Research Project collaborated with Financial Career Insights (FCI) to pilot the Python for Fintech Workshops series, offering practical programming and data analysis skills to business students.
At the workshops, Dr. Francis LAU, Co-founder of FCI, offered a holistic view of Python applications, covering three hottest topics in the fintech industry, namely cryptocurrency, algorithmic trading, and data analytics for banking. Over 40 business students pursuing different majors gained hands-on experience in using Python programming to analyze cryptocurrency market data, develop basic algorithmic trading strategies and apply data analytics in different banking scenarios. The interdisciplinary training will serve the students in good stead in developing a career in the finance sector.
