On November 27, the Hong Kong Judgment and Decision-Making Day (JDM Day) was successfully held in our Central campus. The event gathered 31 faculty and graduate students from six local universities and convened for a day of research talks to establish new connections between the institutions.

The speakers examined why people’s predicted performance streaks would continue (Professor Luxi SHEN, CUHK) and how perceptions of those who succeed based on their talent differ from those who succeed based on their hard work (Miss Shaocong MA, HKUST).

Additionally, Dr Gilad FELDMAN (HKU) shared his contributions in improving the credibility of scientific research, and Professor Zachariah BROWN (HKUST) showcased how people conveyed their social status, which is applicable to researchers at academic conferences and their use of jargon. These talks also emphasized clarity and facilitated learning across disciplinary boundaries.

Organized by Professor David HAGMANN from Department of Management of HKUST, the inaugural conference is expected to return during the Fall Term of 2022.
