We’re proud to announce that Associate Professor YU Man from the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM) has been awarded the 2020 NSFC Excellent Young Scientist Scheme (EYS). The scheme is organized by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and will award RMB 1.2 million of research funding to Prof. Yu over a three-year period.

The NSFC-EYS scheme is one of the most prestigious honors for young scientists (under 38 for male and under 40 for female) in China. It supports promising scholars who have already achieved good results in basic research to pursue innovative research in their chosen areas. The scheme also aims to foster the rapid development of young talent who aspire to be at the forefront of world-class scientific and technology research.

Prof. Yu joined HKUST in 2010 upon completing her PhD at the University of Michigan. Her main areas of research focus on pricing and revenue management, operations management and marketing interface, and operations analytics.

Last year, the EYS scheme was first open to scholars in Hong Kong and Macau. Each year, only 25 scientists from the two regions are selected. This year, five HKUST faculty members received the award, including Prof. YU Man from the Department of ISOM, and other four faculty from Department of Physics - Prof. CHEN Qing, Prof. LIU Junwei, Prof. PAN Ding, and Prof. WANG Yi.
