The Autumn term of the Social Entrepreneurship & Venture Philanthropy (SEVP) course concluded with a closing dinner at Club Lusitano on December 10, 2019. A team of seven MBA students representing Child Development Centre (CDC) won a $250,000 grant to develop a new online administrative system to further expand their social reach.
Officially constituted in 1978, CDC is a non-profit organization that aims to provide quality education opportunities for children with special education needs and empower families with the knowledge to support their children. With a new online system in place, the grant will allow CDC increase their social impact by streamlining the overall administrative process for its staff, and provide easy access for beneficiaries to easily register for CDC’s services.
The SEVP course has provided a real-life platform for our students to experience first-had the landscape of the social entrepreneurship and venture philanthropy landscape in Hong Kong and worldwide. They are not given an exceptional opportunity to engage with successful social innovators, but also a new network to explore new business models and customer experiences.
The grant has been provided by the Nurturing Social Minds program, generously sponsored by The Yeh Family Foundation since 2013.
