With the goal to promote fintech talent development through academia-industry collaboration, the School and Ant Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on collaborations covering industry insight sharing, internship and employment opportunities, as well as joint efforts on industrial research.
Marking the first initiative of this partnership, selected master’s degree students have undergone fintech education under the Ant Group's global fintech training program 10x1000 Tech for Inclusion. In view of the overwhelming response, the quota for student participants from the School has been increased from several dozens to over 100.
Prof. TAM Kar Yan, Dean of HKUST Business School, said “We are delighted to join hands with the Ant Group on fintech talent development. Our students’ strong reception of 10x1000 Tech for Inclusion underscores their desire to upskill themselves for fintech-related work in the future.”
One of our student participants, CHU Ho Kan, an MBA student working in the finance industry, said the training has helped him better understand the value of fintech and the vast opportunities that it brings.
