The Fintech Research Project at HKUST Business School has partnered with Forms Syntron Information (HK) (“FORMS”) to offer exceptional learning opportunities for HKUST students in a four-week fintech mentorship program. Under the guidance of industry experts from FORMS, 15 students from different disciplines, including business and management, engineering, and humanities and social science, worked in small groups to research on the latest topics related to blockchain.

“This program introduced me to a new world of blockchain,” said Raghav SAHNI, a second-year student currently on the Technology and Management Dual Degree Program. “The things I learned from my research and other people's research were very interesting and intriguing.”

Eurus CHEN, a fourth-year undergraduate student studying accounting and information systems, also gained tremendous insight and inspiration from the mentors and other participating students. “I really gained a lot of insights about decentralized finance and blockchain through the mentorship experience. Our mentor was very helpful and always offers us numerous access to learning resources. I also gained from the sharing from other fellow students, who had brilliant ideas and inspiring research outcomes,” said Chen.

Under the guidance from Daniel CHAN, Head of Blockchain Innovation Lab at FORMS, and Joseph LEE, Senior Project Manager and Managing Consultant at FORMS, students achieved significant results in just a few weeks. By maximizing their learning experience, students also gained practical experience working directly with industry experts outside of the classroom.

“It’s a great platform to work on the latest fintech projects,” said Sahil JAIN, an MBA student studying business technology and analytics. “Being new to the fintech industry, the project provided me with a platform to learn a lot about this domain and its industrial value.”

FORMS works in the fintech industry as a thought leader, incubator, and enabler. Dedicated to developing blockchain technology and related research, the organization is committed to educating the next generation of fintech professionals.

“It’s an honor for me to be a mentor and lead fintech research on corporate digital banking for HKUST and FORMS,” said Lee, who was excited to be a part of the collaboration. “This is a fantastic program to drive fintech talent development and motivate the younger generation to develop their careers in fintech.”

"We are very happy to serve as mentors for the program,” Chan added. “The students have shown great interest and passion in learning about tokenomics and stablecoins, and we look forward to continuing this program with HKUST to nurture the young talents of Hong Kong.”
