The BBA in Eurasian Business Program, a joint initiative between HKUST Business School and the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business, has made an exciting start with the arrival of its inaugural cohort at Nazarbayev University (NU) in Astana, Kazakhstan. Designed as a 2+2 program, students spend their first two years at NU before continuing their studies at HKUST, gaining a distinctive international learning experience that spans two leading institutions.

The journey began with an orientation in August, bringing together students, faculty, and program representatives to celebrate the launch of this pioneering initiative. During their time at NU, students will develop a deep understanding of Eurasia’s economic and cultural landscape while building proficiency in English, Putonghua, and a Eurasian language. This combination of business knowledge, cross-cultural competence, and trilingual capabilities will equip students to pursue opportunities across emerging markets and global business environments.

Building on this exciting start, students also had the opportunity to meet Mr. Simon CHAN, Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai and an HKUST MBA alumnus. During an engaging discussion, students explored career pathways, emerging industry trends and internship opportunities, while gaining insights into the growing connections between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong.

These experiences reflect the Program’s commitment to developing globally minded graduates who can bridge cultures, languages, and business opportunities across Eurasia, Hong Kong, and beyond.
