The HKUST Finance Insights program was awarded the Merit Award at the Investor and Financial Education Award 2025 (Education – Tertiary Institution Category). The award presentation ceremony was held on March 10, in the presence of Mr. Vitor DAWES, IFEC Chairman, and Dr. Jeff SZE, Under Secretary for Education, Education Bureau.

Organized by the Investor and Financial Education Council, the award recognizes outstanding contributions in providing quality financial education to the people of Hong Kong, empowering individuals to make informed financial decisions for long-term well-being.

The HKUST Finance Insights program was honored for its alignment with this mission. This initiative brings together three undergraduate programs—the BBA in Finance, BSc in Quantitative Finance and BSc in Sustainable & Green Finance, delivering foundational financial knowledge to senior secondary students across Hong Kong through interactive modules and a gamified learning experience. In the 2024-25 academic year, the program successfully engaged more than 1,000 students.

The program features interactive modules introducing students to personal finance, investment principles, ESG investing and the finance industry, alongside an interactive board game that simulates real-life financial scenarios, allowing students to explore saving, investing and decision-making in a dynamic setting. Sessions are led by current students of the three programs, with many alumni facilitators of participating schools to foster stronger engagement. This award serves as encouragement for the program to continue its mission of empowering young learners in the years ahead.
