The School is proud to announce the successful convening of the Career Development Advisory Council (CDAC) Strategic Meeting in early June. Chaired by the Dean of HKUST Business School Prof. TAM Kar Yan and Chairman of CDAC Prof. Albert IP, the meeting aimed to review the current employment situation of our fresh graduates and strategize upcoming endeavors to further enhance career prospects for students.

Since its establishment in 2022, the CDAC has been instrumental in deepening the School's connections with various industries. Under the leadership of Prof. Albert Ip, the Student Development and Career Services Team has engaged with over 40 companies’ HR heads and senior executives to develop exclusive opportunities for our business students, including internships, graduate positions, and corporate projects. Meanwhile, Prof. Ip, and CDAC members including Ms. Amy CHO, Head of Asia Pacific and CEO of M&G Investments Singapore, and Mr. Wallace LAM, Managing Director & Head of Institutional Banking Group of DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, have shared their personal valuable industry experiences with students through our “Dialogue with Executive Series”.

During the Strategic Meeting, Prof. Ip expressed his gratitude towards Mr. Charles TSAI, CEO of Power Assets, and Mr. Eric MA, CEO of New World Services, who have completed their two-year term on the Council. The meeting also welcomed two new members, Ms. Stephanie LO, Executive Director of Shui On Land & Managing Director of Shui On Management, and Mr. Gilbert HO, Executive Director and Co-Chief Executive Officer of New World Services.

Dean Prof. Tam and Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) Prof. Allen HUANG presented updates on the School and the exciting development plan for the Guangzhou Campus. They also shared the remarkable results and findings from the 2023 graduate employment survey. A roundtable discussion was conducted on various topics, including the current job market landscape, the outlook for 2024 and 2025, emerging opportunities in private banking, as well as the integration of AI technology.

Moving forward, CDAC members will continue to engage and interact with our students through fireside chats, talks, and small group coaching sessions. The Student Development and Career Services Team will actively cultivate connections referred by all members of the Council.

The School will continue providing comprehensive support and opportunities for our students, ensuring their successful transition into the professional world. Through the continued guidance of the CDAC and the dedication of our faculty and staff, we are confident in our ability to shape and fuel the future careers of our students.
