The COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped our society over the past three years. As we navigate through many unprecedented challenges, the journey to excellence goes beyond traditional measures of success and requires qualities such as resilience, adaptability, and compassion more than ever. I am very grateful that our newly inducted BGS members have demonstrated a relentless pursuit of excellence and found their formula for success during this challenging period.
My warmest congratulations to all 340+ new members this year. The BGS society provides an exceptional platform not only to recognize their outstanding achievements, but also to promote the value of excellence in prosperity and adversity. As an international honor society for outstanding students to connect with their peers and global leaders, the BGS chapter at HKUST would not be successful without the continued support of our honorees over the past 20 years.
We are honored to have Mr David GRIMME, Chief Operating Officer, HSBC Asia Pacific, as our Chapter Honoree this year. Underpinned by his vision for emerging technologies and a future-ready workforce, we are able to forge a new partnership with HSBC in nurturing talent in the digital age.
In fostering a culture of excellence on campus, our new Chapter Advisors Prof Stephen SHIH, Associate Dean (MBA Programs), and Prof Melody CHAO, Associate Director (Undergraduate Programs), will play an integral role in finding ways to help our students remain resilient and competitive.
As the first HKUST BGS membership induction ceremony after the COVID outbreak, we come together to celebrate, reconnect and share ideas. Much has been learned from the pandemic, and much remains to be learned in the post-pandemic world. As we embark on a new chapter in our lives, I wish all BGS members every success in their continued journey to excellence.
