Professor J T Li

President, Beta Gamma Sigma
HKUST Chapter

It is my great honor to be the President of the Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) HKUST Chapter for the second consecutive year. Each year we welcome a new group of elite students, faculty, professionals and business leaders to connect with this “Best in Business” network.

This year I am pleased to welcome another 198 newly inducted members to join this prestigious society that recognizes academic excellence and provides opportunities for interaction with a wider community. As a new member, you are encouraged to not only take full advantage of the BGS global network, but actively participate in activities arranged by our local chapter. We will for instance invite you to our new Business Insights Presentation Series - a luncheon talk held in our downtown center, where our distinguished faculty will share insight on topical business and economic issues. These talks allow students and other participants to see for themselves how the School, through its cutting-edge research, forges closer business-academia ties and inspires business executives in search of new ideas and practices.

We will continue to extend the reach and network of our local BGS Chapter and foster exchanges among its members and with the business community.

My warmest congratulations to all the newly inducted honorees and members of the Beta Gamma Sigma HKUST Chapter.

The Beta Gamma Sigma presents a symbol of high principles and superior achievement. I am delighted that since its inception in 2000, the BGS HKUST Chapter has steadily grown into a network of over 2,000 high achievers that unites top students, graduates, faculty and distinguished leaders of the community.

This year, the School has embarked on a new phase of development celebrating its 25th anniversary. The University has defined five core values, including commitment to excellence. I encourage all our fellow faculty and students to embrace this core value among others to cultivate a culture of excellence and work together to build HKUST into a world-class academic institution.
