The two-day HKUST EMBA Alumni Annual Gathering 2025 was successfully held in Shenzhen in early December. Themed “Gathering in the Bay, AI Inspiring the Future”, the event attracted over 350 alumni from across the country and integrated AI-inspired elements into its venue and activities.
The event was honored by the presence of leaders from HKUST and HKUST(GZ), including Prof. Lionel NI, Founding President of HKUST (GZ); Prof. Tim CHENG, Vice-President for Research and Development of HKUST; Prof. Charles NG, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement of HKUST; and Prof. XIONG Hui, Associate Vice-President (Knowledge Transfer) of HKUST(GZ). Senior management of the Business School including Acting Dean Prof. HUI Kai-Lung, Associate Dean Prof. FONG Yuk Fai, and Associate Dean (Strategic Planning and Research) Prof. LOU Dong were also on hand.
The forum included a moment of silence for the victims of the Tai Po fire, while EMBA alumni also contributed through a fundraising effort in response to the tragedy.
Guest speakers included Mr. Robin XING, Chief China Economist at Morgan Stanley (pictured left), who shared his analysis on the Chinese economy; and Mr. Vincent PENG, Director and President of the Global Procurement Qualification Management Department at Huawei (pictured right), who discussed the globalization journey of Chinese enterprises.
The gathering also featured the handover ceremony of the EMBA Alumni Association presidency. The sixth-term President Mr. PAN Yi (Class 2011) delivered a concluding report, marking the successful completion of his tenure, followed by the election of Mr. CAI Yongjun (Class 2011) as the seventh President. Mr. Cai is also a current student of HKUST Bilingual DBA program.

During the evening banquet, RMB 100,000 was presented to the University and another RMB 100,000 to the Business School to support their continued growth. A further RMB 300,000 was donated to the Hong Kong Red Cross, raised through the active fundraising efforts of EMBA alumni in response to the Tai Po fire.

The gathering ended with a lively alumni fun run held the next morning, adding a healthy close to the event. The reunion fostered intellectual exchange and strengthened bonds within the HKUST EMBA community, leaving participants with inspiring memories.
