Various media reported that HKUST has confirmed acquiring the entire 4th floor of United Center in Admiralty for HK$354.4 million for teaching purposes. The HKUST Business School has been operating teaching facilities in business centers in downtown areas to facilitate classes and interaction for students and staff.

School Experts Share Insights on Stablecoin-related Developments
In the lead-up to the enactment of the new Stablecoin Ordinance on 1 August, experts from the School shared their insights on stablecoins-related topics with media.
In a TVB Finance Magazine interview, Acting Dean Prof. HUI Kai-Lung said that HK is expected to grant a small number of Stablecoin issuer licences, and stablecoin transactions are unlikely to fully replace SWIFT-based transactions. (report 1, report 2). Prof. Hui told HOY TV (HoY TV, icable, icable 2) that while stablecoins can facilitate capital flow, they could also be exploited for financial crimes. In interviews with Now TV, China Daily, and Exmoo News, Prof. Hui discussed stablecoin-related regulatory issue. In HKEJ column articles (article 1, article 2), he wrote about business model of stablecoin issuers.
According to a speakout.hk report, Adjunct Prof. KC CHAN, Dept of Finance, stated at a fintech forum that stablecoins and their underlying technology can speed up transaction process and address the pain points of cross-border transactions.
In an interview with HK01, Prof. Emeritus Francis LUI stated that stablecoins might increase money supply, and pose risks of runs on stablecoin issuers. In an HK Economic Times article, he also examined the pros and cons of stablecoin, and ways to safeguard HKs currency system against the influx of USD-backed stablecoins into the local market.
In a report published in cointelegraph and coinness.com about the plunge of HK stablecoin stocks amid the city's new regulatory transition, Prof. Allen HUANG, Head of Dept of Accounting, said the drop was a healthy correction.
HKUST Institute for Financial Research’s Asst. Director Dr. TANG Bo remarked in an interview that stablecoins serve as a bridge between traditional finance and the crypto world, offering benefits such as improved payment efficiency. (ifeng.com, dyhjw.com)
