HKUST and Ant Group Sign MoU on Fintech Talent Development
Various media including , HK Economic Journal, HK01 Finance, HK01 Education, Ming Pao Finance, HK Economic Times, hkcd.com, HKTKWW, DOT, WenWeiPo, HK Economic Journal, EJFQ, Fortune Insight, Line Today, First World Sec, JRJ, Sina, 163.com, Man Loong reported that the HKUST Business school and Ant Group have signed an MoU on collaborations covering industry insight sharing, internship and employment opportunities, as well as joint efforts on industrial research. As the first initiative under this partnership, selected master’s degree students of the School have already commenced fintech training under Ant Group’s fintech training program “10x1000 Tech for Inclusion”
Building Effective Teams with Proactive Personality
HK Economic Times published two articles by Head and Chair Prof. GONG Yaping, Department of Management, on proactive personality in the context of team building. The first article examines building teams with optimal level of proactive personality, while the second one is about leveraging the advantages of dispersion of proactive personality to maximize team potency.

Various media including Bloomberg, The Strait Times, The Standard, Yahoo! Asia, Business Breaking News, The Edge, and Intellasia.net carried articles on the SFC's unreported probe into AMTD Group, in which Associate Prof. Veronique LAFON-VINAIS, Department of Finance, said that regulators are, or should be, watching out for any kind of manipulation that is obscuring the nature of the cash flow or the nature of the company.

Decentralization of Bitcoin Ecosystem (August 16)
An HK Economic Journal Monthly article cited comments by Associate Dean Prof. Allen HUANG about the collapse and centralization of bitcoins. He commented that the bitcoin ecosystem is no longer decentralized now since everyone tends to trust the highly centralized stock exchanges.
On Metaverse, NFT, and Supply Chain Disruptions (August 15)
Sing Tao Daily and Bastille Post carried articles on companies acquiring virtual lands amid the boom and bust of Metaverse fever, in which Associate Dean Prof. Allen Huang said such acquisitions cannot help companies increase revenue or improve operations. However, as the supply of virtual lands grows at a slower pace than NFT, their prices will not fall as steeply as that of NFT.
