The School’s BizTalks Series kicked off a new season with a thought-provoking session on “Innovative Strategies for Economic Sustainability”. The session featured two distinguished speakers whose research shed light on the creative approaches to pressing economic and social challenges.

Prof. YU Man from the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management delivered an engaging talk on “Too Good to Go: Combating Food Waste with Surprise Clearance . She introduced the concept of “surprise clearance”, a novel business model that allows stores to sell mystery bags of surplus food, ultimately increasing profits while effectively reducing waste. Prof. Siyin CHEN from the Department of Management shared insights from her qualitative study in a talk titled “Art for Whose Sake? Managing Professional Autonomy and Empowered Clients in the Porcelain Capital of China. Her research explored how porcelain artists balance client feedback while maintaining their professional autonomy.
