The School is pleased to announce that two of our fintech experts— Dean Professor TAM Kar Yan and Associate Dean Professor Allen HUANG, have joined the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s (HKMA) Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Expert Group. The two experts in the field will shed light on the new electronic form of central bank money and contribute to Hong Kong’s development into a major global fintech hub.

Dean Prof. Tam (left) and Associate Dean Prof. Allen HUANG of HKUST Business School (right), have joined the HKMA CBDC Expert Group to provide insights to support the exploration of key policy and technical issues surrounding CBDC.

The HKMA CBDC Expert Group is a newly established platform that fosters collaboration among members of the Expert Group and beyond with other stakeholders on CDBC and relevant fintech issues. By bringing together leading academics in different disciplines, the Group aims to generate expert inputs from technical, analytical, and academic perspectives, promote inter-disciplinary discussions, provide advisory and training services, and conduct research on various aspects of CBDC and fintech.
