In June, an open program on Effective Negotiations was launched along with the pilot run of the HKGFA-HKUST Certificate in Sustainable Finance program.

The Effective Negotiations open program ran through negotiation tactics that managers can utilize in their workplace. Ranging from salary negotiation, teamwork, working with other organizations and even senior employees, all of these settings require negotiation and are important for success in one’s career and personal life.

Professor Laurence FRANKLIN and Professor Stephen NASON co-taught the program and helped executives enhance their negotiation skills with different role-play activities and discussions. Focusing on practical negotiation and how to become a better negotiator, participants were taught on how to adapt to various situations for improving terms and finding the negotiation limits in any situation. With an average of 19 years of work experience in their industries, the senior executives joining the talk found many takeaways from the practical and interesting content of the program.

The pilot run of the HKGFA-HKUST Certificate in the Sustainable Finance Program was another great success! Partnering with the Hong Kong Green Finance Association, the collaborative initiative supports the School’s pledge to drive and upskill ESG talent. With 45 executives from diverse backgrounds such as finance, consultancy and the legal sector, this first cohort spent three weeks to complete this program related to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).

Covering hot issues in ESG, academic and industry experts collaborated to provide participants with different perspectives and also with relevant case studies to explain. The program has been listed in the GSF Training Information Repository of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. We look forward to the program’s future iterations.
