Between October 1 and 4, over 40 students from the HKUST EMBA 2018 program spent an active and unforgettable Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day racing in the Gobi Desert Challenge. They challenged themselves to the four-day competition that spanned 120 kilometers.

Everyone of them completed the race and returned with much to celebrate. This year, they also won the Shackleton Award that symbolizes the spirit of unity, the Endeavour Award, and the “Ride the Waves” award for overseas participants.

The competition was postponed for five months due to the pandemic. Students travelling from Hong Kong had to be quarantined upon arriving in Mainland China. Aside from the long distance, the climate at the Gobi Desert was a challenge for all with temperatures dropping below 0 degree at night. Yet, our students overcame these difficulties and remained united. The competition revealed our students’ resilience as they cheered each other onwards throughout the race.

Congratulations to all racing students!
