Every year, the Undergraduate Programs Office offers a credit-bearing Social Enterprise Internship Program (SBMT 2200) during the Winter and Summer terms to strengthen students’ awareness in community services and social entrepreneurship. The program also provides students with the opportunity to apply their skills to real-world challenges that non-profit organizations and social enterprises face. All participants of SBMT 2200 are eligible to apply for the Public Service Internship Scholarship (PSIS), supported by the Dr. Karen Lee Memorial Fund. The scholarship aims to encourage business students to serve the community by taking up internships at non-profits or social enterprises, and to recognize those with outstanding performance nominated by their employers during the internship.
To date, 46 students have been selected for the scholarship. The following eight outstanding students have received the scholarship during the 2019/20 Winter term. Each student will receive a cash prize of HK$10,000.
