HKUST and HKMA Join Forces to Develop Post-Quantum Cryptography Toolkit (Jul 29-31)
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) launched the Whitepaper on Quantum Preparedness of HK's Banking Sector, alongside the first Quantum Preparedness Index (QPI) and supporting measures. Key initiatives include a Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) toolkit co-developed with the School and industry partners to help banks prioritize transition planning and enhance cryptographic agility. Dean Prof. Frederik ANSEEL noted that this initiative reflects the School's commitment to advancing impactful research and fostering collaboration among academia, industry, and policymakers. Prof. Allen HUANG, Head of Dept of Accounting, who leads the collaboration, said the interdisciplinary collaboration between the School and the HKUST School of Engineering, spanning finance, cybersecurity, and cryptography, provides critical support for this initiative.
