HKUST Business School to Launch Asia’s First MSc Program in Family Office and Family Business

Various media reported about the School’s plans to launch a new MSc program in family office and family business in the 2025/26 academic year, involving interdisciplinary study and focusing on wealth and culture inheritance. Senior Assoc. Dean Prof. HUI Kai-Lung said that it will be the first master’s program in Asia designated for the sector, and enrollment is expected to start later this year. When asked about the scandal involving some agencies providing students with fake academic credentials to secure admission to master’s programs offered by local universities, he said that the School had found no such cases, and all students were rigorously vetted and interviewed before their admissions. From 1 July, Prof. Hui will serve as the Acting Dean of the School, while Dean Prof. TAM Kar-Yan will assume the new role as Vice-President for Administration and Business (VPAB) at HKUST.

Dean Tam Kar-Yan Appointed HKUST Vice-President

Various media, including HK01, Mirage News, The Nation, Mingpao, dotdotnews, HKET, headline, tkww.hk, hkcna.hk, sciencenet.cn and Xin Lang Cai Jing APP, reported that Dean Prof. Tam Kar-Yan has been appointed as VPAB, succeeding Prof. PONG Ting-Chuen, effective from July 1, 2024. In his new role, Prof. Tam will be responsible for the strategic planning and management of resources including manpower, finances, campus services as well as IT infrastructure and applications, to ensure optimal support for the University’s academic and research activities.
