KH EMBA Tops Inaugural QS Global Rankings (4 Mar)
HK Economics Times, Sing Tao, Oriental Daily News, Ming Pao, WWP and TKP and a number of news portals (listed below) reported that the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA has topped the first QS EMBA Global Rankings. All papers also mentioned that the program was the overall top scoring program among the 120 programs rated worldwide. SCMP and HKEJ carried a sponsored article featuring a big data seminar organized by the School. Speaking on the subject of “Big Data Pitfalls”, Associate Professor of ISOM Michael Zhang highlighted his top ten big data pitfalls, whereas Assistant Professor Hong Xu, also from ISOM spoke about “Peer Disclosure in Online Social Communities”. HK’s First IT Governance Merit Award Winner (22 Mar)
Sing Tao (sponsored supplement) and HKEJ reported on the first IT Governance Achievement Awards organized by ISACA (China HK Chapter), in which HKUST Business School was chosen the “Merit Award Winner” (Public Sector). The organizer recognized the outstanding performance of HKUST in fostering the awareness of IT governance on campus led by Professor Garvin Percy Dias, Associate Professor of Business Education of Department of ISOM. The presentation ceremony held on 16 March saw other winners in both public and private sectors, including the Hospital Authority, Bank of China and ICBC Bank.
HKUST Students Take on Crowdfunding Challenge (23 Mar)
Digital Journalreported that, for the first time in a university in Asia, crowdfunding has been integrated into the course curriculum at HKUST, where Assistant Professor of Management Sam Garg is in collaboration with a local crowdfunding site SparkRaise and introduced the site to students of his entrepreneurship elective course.
An Executive Dream Comes True (7 Mar)

Associate Dean (HKUST EMBA, Executive Education & China Strategy) Professor Xu Yan introduced the School’s executive education, saying that it offered a number of open programs in different management topics to address the specific needs from executives. He said apart from English programs, the School will introduce a few new Mandarin programs for Chinese executives this year, with topics such as “Managerial Decision Making & Growth”, “Corporate Innovation & Growth”, “Strategic Innovation Management” and “Family Business”.
