HKUST Business School successfully concluded its "Navigating Tomorrow's Education: Executive Leadership Program for Principals" on 14-15 October 2025 at the Lee Shau Kee Business Building, Clear Water Bay Campus. The executive education program, which brought together over 40 local high school principals and their delegates, was met with exceptional enthusiasm, with participants actively joining discussions on leadership development, emerging technologies relevant to youth development, and future educational trends.
Marking HKUST's 35 years of impact on higher education in Hong Kong, this initiative demonstrated the university's ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and supporting educational leadership and quality development at all levels.
"We recognize the vital connection between secondary and higher education,” said Prof Kai-Lung HUI, Acting Dean of HKUST Business School in the opening remarks. “The journey from secondary school to university is not a divide, but a continuum, where each stage builds the foundation for the next. That’s why we’re committed to deepening our partnership with the school principals — to ensure timely transitions that support students throughout their learning journey.”
Extraordinary and State-of-the-Art Learning Experience
Participants saw the program as highly beneficial and inspirational. Principals who had previously attended training on similar topics remarked that this program stood out as extraordinary and state-of-the-art, citing the exceptional quality of content curation and delivery.
“The caliber of this program exceeded our expectations,” shared one participating principal. “Having the opportunity to learn directly from HKUST’s faculty provided insights and perspectives that were transformative for our thinking about education’s future.”
Addressing Tomorrow’s Educational Challenges
The first day focused on cutting-edge technologies and their applications in education, receiving spectacular feedback from participants. Participants described these sessions as “very practical and eye-opening,” providing concrete frameworks for understanding and implementing emerging technologies such as GenAI, Blockchain and Web 3, and social media in educational contexts.
The second day shifted focus to leadership and strategic management in an increasingly complex world. Principals highlighted that the exploration of leadership and management in the intelligence world, combined with insights on project delivery, the future of work, and the development of higher education in Hong Kong, provided them with fresh perspectives for addressing the challenges facing their schools.
Building Lasting Professional Networks
Beyond the classroom sessions, the program offered networking opportunities that fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange among participating principals. These interactions enabled school leaders to share best practices and build professional relationships that will continue to benefit Hong Kong’s educational community.
Looking Ahead
The strong demand and positive feedback from the participants reflect the critical need for ongoing leadership and professional development opportunities that address the rapid pace of technological and social change in education. The HKUST Business School is committed to enhancing the quality and exposure of educational leaders and workers in Hong Kong. It is part of HKUST’s mission and continues our tradition of contributing to the local educational sector and throughout the past 35 years into the future.
