Environmental Advocate Lo Sze Ping Commended for Promoting Green Movement in China
Mr Lo Sze Ping, a student of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology's School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School), has been named a Young Global Leader for 2012 by the World Economic Forum (WEF), in recognition of his outstanding leadership and commitment to society.
Selected from a pool of several thousand candidates, Mr Lo is among 192 young leaders from 59 countries bestowed with the honor by the WEF last week. Nine of the selected young leaders are from Hong Kong and Mainland China. Mr Lo, who is a student of HKUST EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration) for Chinese Executives Program, is the only honoree from Hong Kong and Mainland China's non-profit sector.
Professor Leonard Cheng, Dean of School of Business and Management at HKUST, congratulated Mr Lo for receiving the international award. He said, "We are truly proud that our student has been recognized with this prestigious award. We are particularly pleased by this tribute to the usefulness and relevance of our quality executive education to non-profit organizations, in addition to business corporations."
"We at HKUST Business School offer a world-class executive education that is designed to groom leaders not only in business, but also in social service, the environment, and many other fields. Mr Lo is a shining example of our next generation of leaders," added Professor Cheng.
Mr Lo has devoted himself to the environmental movement since 1992. He joined Greenpeace in 1999 and led the establishment of Greenpeace in China. Mr Lo's efforts in green movements have been widely recognized and honored. He was named one of the "Leaders Promoting Internationalization of Chinese Business" by Global Entrepreneur Magazine in 2006, "Asian of the Year" by Singapore's Channel News Asia in 2006, and "Young Leaders of Our Time" by Southern People Weekly in 2009. Mr Lo also received the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in Hong Kong in 2010. Currently, Mr Lo is the Executive Director of Greenovation Hub, a Chinese non-governmental organization which aims to foster innovative and collaborative campaigns for China's green movement.

The HKUST-EMBA for Chinese Executives Program is the only bilingual degree program taught in both English and Chinese at HKUST. It features a world-class platform of learning and interaction, and is designed especially for Chinese senior executives in Greater China and overseas.
Each year WEF selects Young Global Leaders up to 40 years of age from diverse sectors around the world, including politics, business, government, academia, media, non-profit organizations and arts and culture. The 2012 honorees will become part of the Forum of Young Global Leaders community that currently comprises over 700 outstanding individuals. The Young Global Leaders will be integrated into events organized by the WEF, and launch their own initiatives in response to global and regional challenges.
