At a seminar organized by the Department of Economics, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) (Thursday April 13, 2000), Prof. Li Yining (厲以寧) , Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, and Vice-Chairman of the Financial and Economic Committee of the National People's Congress, spoke on the topic "The Development of Securities Market and IPOs of Technology Firms in China".
During the seminar Prof. Li shared his views on the outlook of China's securities market, whether the internet economy is yet another bubble, feasibility and necessity of listing of tech firms, and the impact of China's accession to the WTO on the securities market.
Prof Li Yining, a renowned economist and longtime advisor to the Chinese government on economic issues, has been Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, since 1994. He was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Financial and Economic Committee of the National People's Congress in 1998. He has been a key force behind the reforms of enterprise ownership and the development of shareholding system in China.
