The inaugural class of the HKUST Entrepreneurial Innovation Technology Management Scholar (EITMS) program welcomed 58 tech innvoators, marking the launch of a new ecosystem for the integration of industry and education. The first cohort joined the opening ceremony in March to embark on this cross-disciplinary learning journey that bridges frontier academia with industrial practice.

Led by HKUST Business School, the EITMS program integrates resources from the School of Engineering, the School of Science, the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies, and the Institute for Advanced Study to empower future-ready tech leaders.

“Thanks to HKUST’s strength and depth in technology, our business education not only connects Chinese tech-entrepreneurship ecosystems in Hong Kong with the rest of the world, but also unites leading tech innovators,” says Prof. Frederik ANSEEL, Dean of HKUST Business School. “The caliber and profile of the participants are extraordinary—something that not many business schools around the world can replicate.”

HKUST senior management, faculty members, and the program scholars gathered at the ceremony, including Ir Prof. John KWONG, Mr. Terry TSANG, Prof. Frederik ANSEEL, Prof. QU Huamin, Prof. FONG Yuk Fai, Prof. LOU Dong, Prof. XU Wenwei, and Mr. Chris TSANG.

Following the opening ceremony, students engaged in a series of lectures and activities. The inaugural module featured insightful introductions and lectures designed to foster teamwork and collaboration. We were honored by the presence of Mr. Peter YAN King‑shun, JP, Director‑General of the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, HKSAR Government, and Prof. GUO Yike, Provost of HKUST.

This new program reinforces HKUST Business School’s positioning as a place where technology meets business, fueling the evolution of business education in a tech-driven world. Through this cross-disciplinary initiative, we will continue to deepen industry–education integration, empowering students to lead industrial transformation and contribute to the growth of the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
