HKUST Business School is pleased to announce the appointments of Prof. Allen HUANG as Head of the Department of Accounting and Prof. LIM Wooyoung as Head of the Department of Economics.
Prof. Huang received his PhD in Business Administration from Duke University. Having spent about two years working in the area of Quantitative Equity Strategy in prestigious financial institutions such as Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital, he began his academic career as Assistant Professor of Accounting in 2009, and rose to the rank of full Professor in 2023.
Prof. Huang is a distinguished scholar in economic determinants of financial reporting quality and the informativeness of the outputs of financial analysts.
Prof. Lim received his PhD in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation, he joined HKUST as Visiting Assistant Professor of Economics for one year before converting to Assistant Professor of Economics in 2011. Substantiated and promoted to Associate Professor in 2017, he further rose through to the rank of full Professor in 2025.
Prof. Lim is a leading scholar in experimental and behavioral economics, evolving from an experimental economist to a distinguished behavioral game theorist.
Beyond their research achievements, both professors have played pivotal roles in advancing their departments and the broader university community. As Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs), Prof. Huang has led initiatives in academic advising, student recruitment, admissions, and development. Prof. Lim has made substantial contributions through committee service and leadership roles, notably as Chair of the Undergraduate Committee and Convener of the Common Core Review Panel previously.
