The 2025 Symposium on Risk Management and Business Intelligence, organized by the BSc in Risk Management and Business Intelligence (RMBI) Program at HKUST, proved to be another year of resounding success. The event brought together academic scholars, practitioners, alumni, and students to explore the theme of Risk Management in Financial Institutions.

Prof. HUI Kai-Lung, Acting Dean of HKUST Business School, and Prof. CHEUNG Ki Ling, RMBI Program Director, opened the event with a warm welcome, followed by insightful presentations by distinguished industry leaders:

  • Ms. Dorothy CHAN, Head of Regional Banks and Brokers at Bloomberg L.P., discussed the rapid changes in the sell-side sector driven by technology and market trends;
  • Ms. Jacy HE, Derivatives/Risk Solutions Specialist at Bloomberg L.P., engaged the audience with an interactive game and insights into real-time trading data;
  • Ms. Leanne ZHANG, Senior Economist at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, explored global value chains and their impact on economic stability; and
  • Mr. Kai TAN, Founder of Fides Capital Group Ltd, highlighted the evolution of portfolio optimization techniques using AI and machine learning.

Now in its 16th year, the Symposium continues to serve as a valuable platform for professionals and students to connect and explore the latest developments in financial risk management.
