InvestLM Generative AI Platform Supports Financial SMEs in Harnessing AI
Following the successful development of InvestLM — Hong Kong’s first open-source large language model for financial generative AI (GenAI) applications, the School has launched the InvestLM Generative AI Platform for free registration by the financial services industry in phases. Building on the Government’s call for the industry to make full use of available AI models and infrastructures in the market, the platform is designed to support the industry, particularly small- and medium-sized financial firms, in harnessing the potential of GenAI technology. While welcoming the platform's launch, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority encourages banks to make use of it to explore the potential of GenAI.
Prof. TAM Kar-Yan, Vice-President for Administration and Business and Chair Professor of Information Systems at HKUST, remarked, “The platform will provide an educational and testing venue for financial firms to explore and evaluate the potential of GenAI solutions.”
Prof. YANG Yi, Associate Professor of Information Systems, and a member of the InvestLM research project team, said, “InvestLM’s responses have been rated as comparable to those of state-of-the-art general-purpose LLMs by financial experts, such as hedge fund managers and analysts.”
The InvestLM Research Team introduces the project to Recipient of the HKUST Doctor of Engineering honoris causa and Founder & CEO of NVIDIA Dr. Jensen HUANG (middle) during his recent visit to HKUST.
