In September, the Executive Education Office organized a five-day program on “Doing Business in China” for a group of 27 EMBA students from Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico. The program featured a strong team of HKUST faculty including Kristiaan HELSEN, Cassian CHEUNG, James ZHANG, YANG Xiaodong, LIN Yi-min and Naubahar SHARIF, in a combined form of lectures, case studies, and facilitated discussions.

Participants gained in-depth insights into the economic and business environment in China, along with an overview of investment strategies, marketing tactics, and the Belt and Road Initiative and opportunities in the Greater Bay Area. The objective is to help participants develop a forward-looking vision for sustaining businesses and seizing opportunities in China.

To deepen participants’ understanding of the complex and unique business landscape in Hong Kong and China, the program included visits to Hung Fook Tong, Hong Kong Science Park, and CASH Algo Finance Group. An experiential ‘weiqi’ (圍棋) workshop was also arranged to give participants a taste of the innovation mindset in Chinese culture.
