HKUST has recently received a generous donation from the Thetos Foundation to establish the Thetos Distinguished Teaching Award, the very first award set up at the University to exclusively recognize the contributions of teaching-track faculty on their teaching excellence and to support their teaching advancement projects and personal development.

The Thetos Foundation is a Christian faith-based grant-making foundation in Hong Kong. The Foundation is devoted to empowering and encouraging its beneficiaries with grants as an endorsement of their deeds. Mr. Charles TO is the Chairman of the Foundation and alumnus of our Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA Program.

In recognition of the Foundation’s generosity, Prof. WANG Yang, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement hosted an appreciation lunch for Mr. To and expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Foundation for its generosity and support for the teaching-track faculty. He added that the University aspires to empower the next generation to address global challenges for a better future, and the support from the Thetos Foundation was crucial to achieving this goal by providing the necessary resources to the dedicated educators at the University.

Mr. To expressed that as an HKUST alumnus, he and the Foundation were delighted to support the University. The Foundation looked forward to fostering a culture of teaching excellence that would benefit generations of students to come through the establishment of the Thetos Distinguished Teaching Award.
