The HKUST-NYU Stern MS in Global Finance (MSGF) Program and the CFA Society Emirates recently collaborated to host finance seminars in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in June. These seminars explored the topic of business valuation, with a particular focus on the rapidly evolving social media industry.

Prof. Kasper Meisner NIELSEN took the high-profile Twitter acquisition case as an example to illustrate the application of various valuation tools and techniques. He also shared invaluable insights into the practical challenges that arise during the valuation process.

The seminars marked MSGF’s first presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), strengthening the ties between the Program and the vibrant finance community in the region.

MSGF Shanghai Module

Meanwhile, the MSGF Program successfully concluded its annual Shanghai Module on the NYU Shanghai New Bund Campus in mid-June.

Over an intensive week of learning, the class delved into topics including applied corporate finance and business valuation, doing business in China, corporate finance in China, and the Chinese financial system.

The industry-sharing session featured guest speakers, Ms. Mandy YING and Ms. TAN Mengxi, from the New Development Bank, sharing their expert perspectives on ESG practices in sustainable infrastructure projects.

To complete the Shanghai experience, the MSGF Shanghai alumni joined the current cohort for an evening of networking and celebration at the picturesque North Bund, where they enjoyed the magnificent views of the Huangpu River and the city’s iconic skyline.
