The past few months have been some of the most unusual times the world has experienced in recent years. As the level of uncertainty and risk in all areas continue to increase, the ability to adapt and predict changes is becoming even more important. This makes the practice of sound risk management a fundamental aspect for many businesses.
Jointly organized by the Risk Management and Business Intelligence (RMBI) Program and the Fintech Research Project, the annual symposium on RMBI at HKUST serves as a key platform for academics and industrial experts to exchange views on the development of risk management and business intelligence. Held on March 20, the 12th symposium featured four distinguished business leaders in the field, and their insightful presentations centered around the theme of “Risk Management in the Changing World” through a live streaming event.
The event kicked off with Professor Kar Yan TAM, Dean of HKUST Business School, and Professor Kai-Lung HUI, Director of the RMBI Program, welcoming over 250 participants online and introducing the speakers: keynote speaker Mr. George HONGCHOY, Executive Director and CEO of Link Asset Management, the Manager of Link Real Estate Investment Trust; Mr. Kenny KOO, Executive Director and CEO of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings; Mr. Richard CHEUNG, Executive Director of Customer and International Business Development of The Hong Kong Jockey Club; and Mr. Stefan LESER, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group.
Moderated by Dean TAM, the symposium concluded with a dynamic panel discussion on the importance of cultivating new risk management talent in this constantly changing environment.
