A paper co-authored by Professor Vidhan Goyal of the Finance Department was chosen as a winner in the prestigious “2013 Citations of Excellence Awards” by Emerald Group Publishing.
Each year a list of the top 50 papers is selected from the top 300 management journals in the world by an independent accreditation board of industry experts. These 300 journals publish approximately 15,000 articles annually, so receiving the “Citation of Excellence” is an extraordinary achievement.
In 2014, the publisher also decided to commemorate some of the best and most highly cited “Citations of Excellence” winners from the past 15 years. All of the 750 winning papers from the last 15 years were considered, and of these just 35 papers including the paper “Capital structure decisions: which factors are reliably important?” co-authored by Professor Goyal publsihed in 2009 were chosen to receive the honor.
