A team of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology undergraduate students have won the first prize in the Hong Kong round of the "CFA Institute Research Challenge 2012-2013" hosted by The Hong Kong Society of Financial Analysts (HKSFA). The winning team will advance to the Asia Pacific regional final to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in February 2013.

This year's competition attracted 32 students from eight universities. After a few months of analysis, company visits and mentoring by practitioners, the participating teams presented their analysis and recommendations to the panel of judges comprising of business experts and leaders from the financial industry.

The HKUST team, which comprises four Year 3 undergraduate students, Daisy Sihui Li, Marcus Kam Hau Chu, Becky Yiyun Lu and Byron Chao Fan, won with their "Buy" recommendation of Zoomlion Heavy Industry (1157.HK), and each received scholarships worth HK$2,000.
