The Accounting faculty at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) ranked 1st in the world in research articles published in the top five academic journals in 2001, the second year in a row it has gained this prestigious place.
HKUST is one of only four universities to consistently rank in the top 10 in the last four years, together with Columbia, Pennsylvania, and Stanford.
The five top journals surveyed are Journal of Accounting Research (University of Chicago), Journal of Accounting and Economics (University of Rochester), The Accounting Review (American Accounting Association), Contemporary Accounting Research (Canadian Academic Accounting Association), and Review of Accounting Studies (UC Berkeley and Stanford). The first three journals were used by The Financial Times in its recent global ranking of business programs. HKUST Accounting faculty also published in other leading journals, including American Economic Review, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Management Science.
