Hosted by the HKUST Institute for Financial Research, the Institute for Global Development at Tsinghua University, and Caijing Magazine, the Hong Kong Digital Finance Summit 2026 convened global stakeholders to explore how digital currencies, digital assets, and data as assets are reshaping the global financial landscape.

The event brought together diverse global perspectives from policy, academia, and industry. Key contributors featured the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Securities and Futures Commission, and the Insurance Authority; global universities such as MIT, University College London, Stanford, and Tsinghua as well as prominent organizations from J.P. Morgan, HSBC, and Anchorpoint to HKEX, CITIC Securities, Du Xiaoman Financial, HashKey Group, and Yunfeng Financial Group.

A series of panel discussions brought together leading experts to explore key developments in digital finance, financial innovation, and regulatory collaboration.

The panel moderated by Prof. TAM Kar Yan, Vice-President for Administration and Business of HKUST (first left), brings together representatives from industry and academia to discuss how stablecoins, central bank digital currencies, and tokenized deposits can achieve coordinated development in the future financial system. The panel explores the opportunities and challenges arising from the integration of traditional finance and digital finance.

The panel moderated by Mr. HE Gang, Editor-in-Chief of Caijing Magazine (first left), featured Mr. Geoff JIANG, President of Yunfeng Financial Group (second left); Prof. TANG Bo, Head of the HKUST Institute for Financial Research (third left); Mr. Stephen YIU, Chairman of the Insurance Authority (fourth left); and Mr. ZHU Guang, Chief Executive Officer of Du Xiaoman Financial (fifth left). The panel sees in-depth discussions on cross-border data collaboration, digital governance, and regulatory coordination.

At a time when digital finance is evolving rapidly, having these diverse voices enabled a more grounded and informed dialogue on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
