In honor of Professor John Wei’s retirement after a distinguished career at HKUST for over 24 years, the Department of Finance held a one-day conference on 10 June 2016.
The conference started with a welcome reception hosted by the Department Head and Chair Professor Vidhan Goyal, with an opening remarks made by Professor Kar Yan Tam, Dean of the HKUST Business School, to welcome the participants, including guests from all the world.
The occasion brought together over 70 guests, speakers, friends and colleagues of today and the past in recognition of Professor Wei’s influential and lasting contributions to the field of asset pricing and the School.
The conference and its associated activities, including a boat trip and dinner, were also attended by former Deans: Professor Emeritus Yuk Shee Chan and KC Chan (now Secretary for Financial Services and Treasury), and former Department Head Professor Kalok Chan.
Professor Wei is a founding faculty member of the Department of Finance and joined HKUST in 1992. He has been named Emeritus Professor of Finance in the Department following his retirement from HKUST in June 2016.
