Last November, HKUST EMBA alumnus Dr. CAO Lubao (Class of 2012) was elected as a member of the standing committee of the 14th Jiangsu provincial committee of the Communist Party of China. He was then appointed as the Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee.
Founded in 514 BC, Suzhou has had a long and productive history steeped in rich Chinese culture. In addition to its famous classical gardens, Suzhou has become one of the most highly developed and prosperous cities in China. In 2020, its GDP ranked number 6 among all cities in China. According to the Nature Index 2020 Science Cities, Suzhou is also one of the top 50 major cities in the world for scientific research outputs.
