In fall 2022, the HKUST Executive Education Office collaborated with the University’s Human Resources Office (HRO) in offering a Management and Leadership Development Program for the senior staff of HKUST in different units. This second run of the tailored internal training program further enhanced HKUST senior staff’s managerial and leadership skills through lectures and different practical and relevant consequential communication exercises.
This internal training program was taught by Adjunct Professor Caroline WANG. The program was composed of two parts. In Part 1, the participants learnt about ‘GPA/IPO’ management framework in the two-day “Managerial Decision-Making and Leadership” open program. They also had the opportunities to mingle and share with other fellow participants from different industries. Building on the framework, the participants proceeded to Part 2 of the program – three group sessions over three weeks on “Management through Effective Communication” to further sharpen their communication skills and team leadership. The program was well-received by the class as reflected by the strong commitment from participants and their active participation in class discussions. They found the framework learnt and fruitful experiences shared by Prof. Wang extremely useful. The Office looks forward to working closely with HRO in talent development for HKUST.
