Eldpathy, is a 30-person social enterprise co-founded by Herman Chan, a BBA graduate from 2012. With an aim of raising awareness about elderly issues, Eldpathy won a subsidy of HK$200,000 from the DBS Social Enterprise Advancement Grant 2015 - Social Innovation Program, supported by the DBS Foundation.

This good news comes at a time when Eldpathy is about to further develop its two programs, namely the Elderly Poverty Simulation Program and the Corporate Training Program.
The Elderly Poverty Simulation program, for example, aims to heighten public understanding of the needs among the elderly and the poor, to educate caregivers on providing better services and to promote social inclusion and elderly employment, through experience-learning activities.

“We are very excited and hope to further develop this increasingly popular program with the fund,” said Herman. “Our project is now under review by the government supported Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund. If we succeed, we may be granted another HK$200,000, which can help us introduce more innovative programs for the elderly.”
Applicants are required to submit a detailed social impact assessment report to prove the social impact of their projects and impress the judging panel, formed by professionals and authoritative figures in Hong Kong, during an interview session.

“It’s definitely challenging, but we have learned so much,” Herman commented. “We look forward to stronger support from the government and society, so that we can continue to address social problems with more innovative initiatives.”
