A team of four undergraduate students from National University of Singapore was crowned the champion at the HKUST International Case Competition (HKICC) 2023, excelling among peers from top business schools around the world in coming up with creative business solutions. The second place went to the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the University of Southern California secured the third position.
The HKICC 2023, organized by the School of Business and Management of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) and supported by HSBC, stood as Asia’s premier international case competition. After two years of online delivery, this year marked the return to face-to-face competition. The event not only aimed to challenge the participating teams to devise solutions that enhance the customer journey for HSBC’s corporate banking clients, but also facilitated fintech development.
Professor TAM Kar Yan, Dean of HKUST Business School, said, “We are excited that HKICC is back this year in a face-to-face format, allowing participants to connect more deeply and appreciate the rich cultural diversity of HKUST campus. Our sincerest gratitude goes to HSBC for their generous support of this year's competition. As a platform for fostering innovative minds, HKICC will continue to play a pivotal role in preparing young people with the skills to tackle real-world business challenges.”
David GRIMME, Chief Operating Officer, Asia-Pacific, HSBC, said, “At HSBC, we firmly believe that by transforming the customer journey through digital solutions, we are able to elevate customer experiences and operational efficiencies, as well as opening up a world of opportunities for our customers. The level of enthusiasm and passion amongst of the teams, as they innovate to address the business challenge, is inspiring. We are excited to support HKUST for the development of fintech talent who can contribute positively in bolstering Hong Kong’s position as a global financial center and fintech innovation hub.”
Taking place over three days in early October 2023, this year’s contest saw the enthusiastic participation of 12 teams from universities in Australia, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the USA.
