We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 16th China Economics Summer Institute (CESI) Conference which took place in late August on the HKUST Clear Water Bay campus. Hosted by the Center for Economic Policy and the Department of Economics, more than a hundred observers joined the two-day Conference which featured 12 papers exploring different aspects of economic growth and development in China this year.

With joint efforts of multiple research centers from highly regarded universities, CESI aims to create a network and community of top-level scholars working on Chinese economic development. It also encourages young scholars to work on topics related to the Chinese economy by building a supportive mentoring network. Since 2018, the Conference has been the major annual event of CESI, creating an excellent platform for senior and junior scholars, and PhD students to present, discuss and exchange their latest research findings during the two-day workshop.

Dean of HKUST Business School Prof. TAM Kar Yan welcomes all participants to the CESI Conference.
