Fintech may still be an unfamiliar topic to many, which contributes to the difficulty in increasing manpower supply for the field. To help with solving the talent shortage in fintech and related sectors such as regulatory technology (regtech) and insurance technology (insurtech), the HKUST Business School launched the first innovative job portal in Hong Kong – the Emerging Jobs and Skills Portal (the Portal) – to uncover the latest hiring trends and in-demand skills in six emerging job markets. The platform intends to smooth the path for job seekers looking to enter the field, working professionals trying to upskill themselves, and employers planning to ramp up their workforce.
Powered by AI and Big Data technologies, the Portal currently features six key sectors including AI and Machine Learning, Big Data Analysis, ESG, Fintech, Insurtech, and Regtech, with the plan to expand to more sectors later. It provides an up-to-date analysis of job market trends and insights based on job availability, key responsibilities, sector- and job-specific skills requirements, and distribution, as well as market statistics.
Amidst talent shortage and new trends evolving in the financial industry, the Portal represents an essential tool to align understanding of talent requirements and bridge the skill gaps between companies and potential talent. It also provides students and job seekers with easier access to the dynamic fintech and related sectors and a macro perspective on the employment trends for industry players and recruiters.
The Portal is available to the public for free. Interested individuals can explore fully to capture the latest trends and opportunities in the emerging job market: https://jobsskillsportal.hkust.edu.hk/
